О себе

I grew up in the rural mountains of the Pennsylvania Poconos. In a place where there was great respect for nature, the earth and the local folk. A place of helping others, where a handshake was a contract, where cheaters were shunned and dealt with. I moved to the city for education and work but still hold those values dearly. I had a successful career in engineering working in the transportation industry, and had the good fortune of working on projects in all of the 50 US states, as well as a bit out of country. I used to hunt- never for sport- but that has faded. I still fish when I can get out. To stay fit I trail bike when the weather is good. And I also hike a lot, year round, usually off trail in the thick of the woods, to keep my awareness sharp. Path walking is fine but boring when alone. I have good camping gear and enjoy thru-hiking for one or several days. Real camping, not glamping. AT anyone?

My personality is introspective, quiet and usually reserved. I typically listen- to the words and the tea leaves- before I talk. I generally avoid disrespectful, selfish people and those who desire to command the room. My friends are few but true. I generally lean toward factual, informative discussion and can tolerate limited small talk. However, in the right setting and mood I can go on. And perhaps on. I'm always up for a good book although that ebbs and flows. Often, when I come across one, for a day or two there is only book and sleep. On the lighter side, I used to be naughty and wild. Alas, time takes what it will. But I haven't completely forgotten!

I'm looking for a life partner for the remainder of the journey. I have no interest in a bedroom-only relationship. To the extent it is borne from respect, love and partnership, then yes, I think we all want that. I have the romantic dream that many have- that is to find a nurturing, simpatico relationship where we both bring out the best in each other, eventually bonding as one and cherishing our unique relationship. A new family of 'us', at this stage of life. I have no racial or ethnic bias. Throughout my career and travels I have had the good fortune to meet and work with so many wonderful people from all walks of life, including race, color, ethnicity, religion, spiritual, and personally held values and beliefs. Each 'tribe' has good ones and not so good ones. A good human is a good human. Period. I've learned that good humans instinctively recognize both, but not so good ones fail there. That's who I'm chasing. A good female. I'm not multi-lingual but am open to learning to improve the handicap. Ideally, my partner would be healthy, fit, and have a love of nature and the outdoors, and be respectful of others and mindful of the footprints imparted on this great planet that provides, simply, everything we have and use.
