I am a person who really enjoys friendly connections--it's not that easy to meet new people here, so friendly faces around town are nice to find. I spent a lot of time teaching ESL in Japan and Korea. Snow's all gone now! ...I'll be going fishing :) Music (classical guitar) and reading (history of science right now) make up the productive part of my days.

I would benefit from an online muse, when my music routine is uninspired. Any muses out there?

Genuine, authentic, funny, smart. Musical? I'm quite wise to all the scams that happen with online dating--so, please don't do that!

But they keep scamming me anyhow! Watch out for this one:

This type of scam is often referred to as a "long con romance scam" or a "slow-burn romance scam." It’s a subset of romance scams where the scammer invests significant time in building emotional trust before asking for money, sometimes waiting months or even years.

Other terms that might apply:

"Grooming scam" – because the scammer conditions the victim over time.
"Cultivation scam" – highlighting the patient, strategic manipulation.
"Pig butchering scam" – originally used for investment scams but can also describe long-term romance scams where the victim is "fattened up" emotionally before the scammer makes a move.
This approach is particularly dangerous because victims feel deeply invested in the relationship, making it harder to recognize the scam or walk away when the inevitable money request comes. Have you encountered anything that feels like this?
